SILVER GELATIN

I photographed my dear friend's wedding a while back in Ojai
and just recently took another look at the photographs from the day
There is something about film that cannot be copied
The silver gelatin is purely mystical

I remember holding my breath, waiting for the prints
without the certainty of a digital screen
no way to throw images in the little trash icon
I was faced with the truth
and had to trust that something will turn up on that roll of negatives.

I was so happy when the photos came back,
caught by surprise even after all these years.
I love film.

MIKE & BRIANNA

I had so much fun editing this wedding. I got to interweave time-lapse and super 8mm into the video.
Brianna was such a wonderful bride and I really enjoyed working with her.

The wedding took place at Bates Ranch overlooking Rincon in Carpinteria. Although it rained the night before, the wind swept it all away by the wedding day.

Jonathan & Joanna 11.11.11

It rained on their wedding day, but that didn't take anything away from their special day. (I think it's a lucky omen in India)

The sun even came out just in time for some sunset photos in the garden at the Cambria Pine's Lodge.

Joanna was one of the most beautiful brides I've seen with a timeless vintage look right out of the '20's. Jonathan and Joanna's wedding was an intimate gathering in Cambria, the place they first fell in love.

The summer of love is fading.
Memories to warm the heart
for the long nights ahead.

ANDREW & SERRA July 23rd 2011

On a sunny and windy day in Santa Barbara, overlooking Hendry's Beach at Ellings Park, this sweet couple got married. A modest man and a smart lady, these two were one of the cutest couples I met.

It was a pleasure capturing their thoughtfully handmade wedding. The reception was held at the Women's Club by The Mission, with a live band (Gerry Rotshchild Band) and the Santa Barbara photo booth. Nice touch.

I was excited to try my hand at  a time lapse video of the guests arriving and hope to do some more of that in the future.

Summer is coming to an end. The harvest moon is rising tonight. I hope everyone enjoys a nice meal with a loved one or friend tonight. At least that's my plan.

JENNIFER & TOM MAY 7th 2011

Last month I went down to San-Diego to film Jennifer & Tom's wedding,
an inspiring couple, who blew me away when they sang a duet during
their ceremony.

Here are some highlights from their wedding day. The reception was held
at Orfila winery, quite a romantic backdrop, amongst the tangled grapevines
and distant mountains.

I love a wedding where the bride and groom love to dance. I especially love
a wedding where the priest loves to dance.
